What is Restoration in Progress?

Restoration in Progress, brought to you by Walneck's Classic Cycle magazine and website, is a web event focusing on the restoration of a BMW R69US. The restored classic motorcycle will be auctioned to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation. Check back frequently with the site to see updated videos, photos, builders notes, and more. Watch as builder David Carmean of Velocity Motorcycles finds the right parts, rebuilds the engine, and returns the BMW R69US to its former glory. Participate in the online auction, or join us at the AMA Mid-Ohio Vintage Cycle show in July 2007.

Restoration in Progress presents restoration enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to observe a restoration in its entirety. When all is said and done, the fully restored 1969 BMW R69US will be auctioned on the web, as well as in a live auction at the Mid-Ohio AMA Vintage Cycle Show, July 27-29 in Lexington, Ohio. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Contributors to the project include: Velocity Motorcycles, JC Motors, Bench Mark Works, Bore Tech, proxibid, AMA, Deer Ridge Golf Club, and Buchanon's Spokes and Rims.
