Walneck's Classic Cycle's Restoration in Progress sponsored the restoration of a 1969 BMW R69US that was auctioned July 28, 2007. All proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They also hosted a benefit dinner the night before the auction, raising additional funds for JDRF. The dinner brought together motorcycle industry VIP's and classic motorcycle enthusiasts for the sake of a good cause.
The benefit dinner raised a total of $6,000.00 for JDRF.
The winning bid of $20,000 for the BMW R69US restored motorcycle will also go to benefit this worthy charity.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the world's leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke and amputation.
Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has provided more than $1 billion to diabetes research worldwide, including more than $122 million in FY 2006. In 2006, JDRF has funded 500 centers, grants and fellowships in 20 countries. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and education about research. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Restoration in Progress is dedicated to not only restoring a fine classic motorcycle, but also to generating funds for Juvenile Diabetes research. Working hand in hand with Velocity Motorcycles and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Walneck's Classic Cycle hopes to raise as much money as possible for JDRF.
